Stickheads {review & giveaway}

November 5, 2011 · Posted in Giveaways, Kid Gear, Toddler Gear · 46 Comments

If you’re looking for a unique, made in Canada toque for your hockey loving kid this winter – look no further than Stickheads! Stickheads hockey stick hats are the ultimate hockey fan toque for kids of all ages. They are made of super warm soft polar fleece and each one has a fleece hockey stick hanging off the top. When we received our Stickheads hat for mr. bean to try out, I must say he was pretty thrilled when he saw the hockey stick.

The first couple of times it was hard trying to keep the toque on as he was so fascinated by the stick. Now, not only does it stay on his head, he asks for his “fancy hockey toque” (he’s 2.5 – everything he absolutely loves is “fancy”) even if it’s far too warm to even wear one. This is definitely a fun, yet practical toque and I can see it getting a lot of use this year.

The toques are available in all sizes, from baby right up to adult. I think it would be a great stocking stuffing for Christmas. I might just pick one up for a couple of the hard core hockey fans in my family.

In addition to the toques, Stickheads also makes hoodies, t-shirts and blankets. Plus, they offer a fundraising program for schools and sport teams. Perfect way to raise money for your organization and show your hockey love at the same time!

Tray Vous – {Review}

August 30, 2011 · Posted in Baby Products, Kid Gear, Reviews, Toddler Gear, Uncategorized · 2 Comments

So you’re running last minute errands, you have shopping bags or you’re just having a much needed walk and some down time in the park. There’s a certain type of Mom stress involved in having a bored, hungry, (soon to be crying…screaming?), little one in a stroller. The Cheerios are thrown to the ground and you’re picking up the squeaky toy for the 100th time? Not fun.

Many of us know that keeping your little one amused and snack-happy is a major challenge.  Love your Bugaboo? This is pretty much an essential product if you do. The Tray Vous was created by a busy Mom, just like you, to make life with your Bugaboo stroller much easier.What could be easier than a handy little snack, drink and activity tray that snaps into place while maintaining the cool, sleek look of your Bugaboo? Busy Mom Lauren created the Tray Vous with her daughter Peyton in mind and now younger brother Callen is enjoying his too. We love parent created products!

The Tray Vous is super easy to attach and use. Check out these photos and instructions and even download the user manual. Simply detach the stroller carry handle and click the tray into place. Velcro anchoring straps give added stability.  The tray can be used on Bugaboo Frog and Cameleon strollers while preserving the versatility of the handle.

Shop for your Tray Vous online or at these great retailers: Babesta, Dainty Baby, Pacifer and Moms to be and More (Toronto).

Visit Tray Vous on Facebook and check out their great blog for cute photos of this amazing product in action!

Keep Baby Cool & Hydrated this Summer – Playtex – {Review}

Keeping your little ones safe, cool and hydrated in our Canadian, hot summers can be even harder than keeping them warm in the middle of a very Canadian winter. There’s so much to worry about! Harmful sun rays, heat and maybe hardest of all is making sure they’ve had enough to drink. It’s a toasty 36 degrees today in Miss Button’s neighbourhood. Summer may have been a little late arriving to our part of British Columbia but it’s sure here now!

Playtex Infant offers these top four awesome tips:

Dress alike – If you’re feeling hot, chances are your baby is too, so be sure to dress for the weather. Cool cottons and linens are comfortable and let your skin breathe.

Stay out of the sun – The sun is the hottest from 11am to 3pm so avoid going outside at this time. If you do go out on a hot day, ensure your baby is shaded from the sun as best as possible.

 Carry plenty of water – If you run out of water or it becomes too hot to enjoy, pop into a local cafe or restaurant and most will be more than happy to fill your sippy cup with cool water.

Use ice – If it’s a really hot day, try filling one of your sippy cups with ice. By the time your baby is thirsty, most of the ice will have melted, creating a cool and refreshing drink.

I especially love the idea of filling a sippy cup with ice. I had never thought of it.

Playtex have an amazing amount of online resources over at Playtex Baby and Playtex Mommyville. A super cool Mommy Board forum, helpful articles, monthly sweepstakes, as well as tons of advice on Playtex products. You can easily personalize your Mommyville experience to make it very relevant to your own little one, whether they’ve arrived or not.

We love our Playtex sippy cups. An interesting fact is that 88% of Canadian Moms have used a sippy cup! I know it’s an essential part of our gear when we’re out and about.

We would like to thank Playtex for sending us some awsome sippy cups for Miss Button and Mr Bean to try out. We were not compensated for this review.

Little Jots {Review & Giveaway}

June 9, 2011 · Posted in Kid Gear, Mama Stuff, School · 66 Comments

Little Jots LogoMiss Button and I were thrilled with our Little Jots. I first got to try them out when she was being babysat at Grandma’s house. I slipped a Little Jot with very simple “I ‘heart’ Miss Button” and a little doodle of us both holding hands. She loved it! As she gets older and has a better grasp of reading I can be more adventurous with the wording but it definitely is the thought that counts with these notes.

Little Jots were created by proud Mom, Maria as a way to connect and give positive feelings of love and connection.

What a fantastic idea! A way to let your own little button know that you’re thinking of them when you can’t be there to deliver that hug in person. Perfect for slipping into a book, backpack, lunchbox or even on the pillow (love this suggestion from Little Jots!). Who wouldn’t love a little surprise note of love or encouragement once in a while? These would make a great back to school gift or daycare tool. I confess I even left Mr Button a Little Jot on the dashboard of his car and I believe it brought a little smile to his face too.

Little Jots

Not a minute to spare in the morning? If you’re a busy parent you know how that feels. Luckily Little Jots come with beautiful pre-written notes as well as write your own notes. They fold easily and come with the cutest little ‘kiss’ and ‘smile’ stickers to seal the note closed. Your Little Jots come in a handy little hard binder that you can easily slip in your purse, diaper bag or glove box and refill packages are available for when you run out. No need to hunt for a pen as one is included. I love that they are so easy to use.

We all have those mornings now and again. Everyone is in a hurry and you sometimes you feel like you didn’t say a proper goodbye. Rest assured this will soon be forgotten when your little one discovers a message of love in a Little Jot!

Order Little Jots online or at the following retailers: Giving Gifts, Hager Books, Hip Baby, Jack & Lolas, Little Earth, Raspberry Kids, Sofiabella Tween Clothing Boutique, The Inno Shop. Little Jots are a Canadian company that support the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.

BobbleRoos {review & giveaway}

March 7, 2011 · Posted in Kid Gear, Toddler Gear · 101 Comments

BobbleRoos toddler pillows blanketsFor quite a while now mr. bean has been using his stuffies as pillows in his crib. It first started with “Simon” his blue puppy stuffy, then for Christmas he received a pillow/puppy stuffy from Grandma. Well, it was game over for no pillow in the crib. He wanted a pillow. Thankfully we came across BobbleRoos!

BobbleRoos makes pillows (and lots of other great stuff) that are perfect for toddlers and youth. These pillows are smaller than regular size pillows, and they fit perfectly in a toddler bed. Their toddler pillows also make great travel pillows for kids of all ages and adults too. They also make a great youth pillow for sleepovers, camp, or travel.

We received a toddler pillow and two pillowcases to try out. The pillows are 12×16 and approximately 3 inches high. The pillow inserts are custom made in the U.S. and are lightly filled with 100% non-allergenic polyester fiberfill and covered with a durable white cotton fabric. I was happy when I found out that the pillow was a non-allergenic polyester as I’m allergic to down and I don’t know, yet, if mr. bean is allergic to down or not.

For pillowcases, we went with a construction theme. Anyone who knows mr. bean in real life knows he LOVES excavators and any other construction related equipment. We received a soft and durable 100% cotton flannel in “Construction” and  Michael Miller’s “Dig It” in a soft percale cotton. BobbleRoos offers a ton of different pattern and fabric choices, so you’ll be sure to find the perfect one for your little one.

When mr. bean opened his mail, he was thrilled! We washed up the pillowcases right away and put one to use that night. The pillowcases have an extra flap on the inside to keep the pillow in its place. I wish adult pillows had that feature! Usually mr. bean is all over his crib and can wake up in the morning at the opposite end or sideways. With the pillow, he slept in one spot all night. He went to sleep on the pillow and woke up on the pillow. He exclaimed in the morning “I love pillow.”

Bobble Roos toddler pillow

BobbleRoos pillows can be purchased alone or in toddler gift sets with extra pillowcases and matching toddler blankets. Personalization is available too! When mr. bean transitions to a toddler bed, we will be picking up a couple toddler blankets to match his pillowcases. And for those of you with little ones in daycare or preschool, they also have preschool nap mat covers too.

The Giveaway

BobbleRoos is giving a $25 gift certificate to a West Coast Mama reader!

Mandatory Entry

Check out the BobbleRoos and come back and tell us what you would buy if you were to win the gift certificate.
