Electrolux Nimble – {Review}
We were delighted to try out the Electrolux Nimble. Like many homes these days we have carpeted areas and large areas of laminate. It’s tricky to find a floor cleaner that does both jobs well. We have carpet in Miss Button’s bedroom so it’s very important to us that we don’t sacrifice cleaning power in this room, but then the high traffic, most visible areas are mostly laminate.
The Nimble was most definitely put to the test in this household. We have our much loved cat and dog, plus an almost constant stream of friends and neighbours stopping by and more often than not, kids running around with cookies and other snacks. This vacuum was absolutely up to the test. It’s by far the most powerful vacuum cleaner I’ve ever used. I’ve also never had a floor cleaner that picked up this well on the laminate floor. I had resorted to doing it the old fashioned way and sweeping, sweeping and more sweeping. Hard to reach areas in corners and underneath our sofas looked neglected pretty quickly. (If you have little ones I would recommend not getting sofas with a 3 inch gap underneath). Problem no more.
The Nimble does an immaculate job on the hard floor. The carpeted areas come up just as perfectly as you would expect from an Electrolux product. There’s also no messing around when you need to switch from the hard floor to the carpet setting. One of our previous vacuums had a fiddly adjustment on the base that I never could get the hang of. The Nimble has a simple, one push, labelled button to switch from hard floor to carpet – I love this.
In fact the whole vacuum is easy and intuitive to use. Even if you hate reading instructions you should have no issues. I’m not exactly known for being mechanically minded and I had no problems whatsoever with any of the features or tools. The vacuum is bagless of course and the canister is super easy to remove. You’ll be pleased to hear that it has a sealed HEPA filter. The Versa-Tool is actually awesome and dare I say, fun to use. It was my first time using a vacuum with a light and I was pleasantly surprised at how handy it is for eyeing up stray debris and seeing exactly what you’re doing.
The Nimble is also incredibly easy to move around and the smooth swivel action is perfect. I’m 5 feet tall and have never won an arm wrestling contest. I really dislike it when any appliance that I use regularly is physically taxing. The Nimble is true to it’s name. For such a powerful cleaner, I didn’t have to over exert myself when I was using it.
Last but not least! The cord wraps up well. It may be small thing but it’s another bonus of this well designed floor cleaner.
The vacuum has a very nice overall design. It’s modern and cool looking without sacrificing functionality. It’s an absolute winner in our books and my floors have never looked better. We would highly recommend it!
The Electrolux Nimble is available at a variety of fantastic retailers, including: Canadian Tire, BestBuy and Sears.
We would like to thank Electrolux for allowing us to try out the Nimble vacuum cleaner. We were not compensated for this review.

Brother P-Touch Labeler {review & giveaway}
For an organizing junkie like me, a labeler is a key piece of equipment in the organizing process. I had the opportunity to try out the Brother The P-Touch PT-1100SBVP labeler recently. This labeler is designed primarily for scrapbooking, but you can use it for anything you like. It holds many different sizes of labels. But, what makes this labeler great for scrapbooking is that you can purchase labels in all sorts of different colours – orange, red, blue, white, clear and lots more.
With the labeler I received a cartridge of clear labels and a cartridge of white labels. You can print either one line or two lines.
Plus, there are a variety of different font styles to choose from – bold, underlined, mirrored (reverse) italic and a bunch more. The labeller is a little handheld unit that comes in a clear plastic carrying case and does not take up a ton of space. There is extra space for extra cartridges too. In addition to your regular alpha and numeric fonts, there are also over 60 different symbols you can use. If you wish your label to be in French or Spanish, there are the extra letters you need for that. As well, you can add a Halloween pumpkin, a santa, hearts, arrows and more to your label. This, in my opinion is a great extra to your regular small labeler.
It took me a couple of minutes to get the hang of it, but the instructions were very clear and I could figure out what I wanted to do quite quickly. Needless to say, I went on a labeling streak and even my husband’s laptop got a label with his name and number on it.
Whether you want to label your spice jars or use it for your scrapbooking, this is a very handy and easy to use machine. My only recommendation is that if you are going to use it quite frequently, I would recommend picking up the electrical outlet adaptor for $29.99.
Here are the features:
The PT-1100SBVP is a compact, handheld labeler that uses acid-free adhesive labels to help you make captions quickly and neatly for all your scrap booking projects. The PT-1100SBVP also uses the standard Brother Canada “TZ” laminated tapes, which come in a variety of tape colors, tape widths and adhesive types.
· includes two free photo safe tapes: a 12 mm Black on White Acid Free Tape(8M) and a 12mm Black on Clear Acid Free Tape (5M)
· Prints 5 type sizes and 9 types styles
· Prints up to 2 lines of text
· 72 built-in symbols
· Prints up to 12 mm (1/2″) wide.
· Compact design and includes 6 “AAA” alkaline batteries
· Clean cut labels with manual tape cutter.

Keep Baby Cool & Hydrated this Summer – Playtex – {Review}
Keeping your little ones safe, cool and hydrated in our Canadian, hot summers can be even harder than keeping them warm in the middle of a very Canadian winter. There’s so much to worry about! Harmful sun rays, heat and maybe hardest of all is making sure they’ve had enough to drink. It’s a toasty 36 degrees today in Miss Button’s neighbourhood. Summer may have been a little late arriving to our part of British Columbia but it’s sure here now!
Playtex Infant offers these top four awesome tips:
Dress alike – If you’re feeling hot, chances are your baby is too, so be sure to dress for the weather. Cool cottons and linens are comfortable and let your skin breathe.
Stay out of the sun – The sun is the hottest from 11am to 3pm so avoid going outside at this time. If you do go out on a hot day, ensure your baby is shaded from the sun as best as possible.
Carry plenty of water – If you run out of water or it becomes too hot to enjoy, pop into a local cafe or restaurant and most will be more than happy to fill your sippy cup with cool water.
Use ice – If it’s a really hot day, try filling one of your sippy cups with ice. By the time your baby is thirsty, most of the ice will have melted, creating a cool and refreshing drink.
I especially love the idea of filling a sippy cup with ice. I had never thought of it.
Playtex have an amazing amount of online resources over at Playtex Baby and Playtex Mommyville. A super cool Mommy Board forum, helpful articles, monthly sweepstakes, as well as tons of advice on Playtex products. You can easily personalize your Mommyville experience to make it very relevant to your own little one, whether they’ve arrived or not.
We love our Playtex sippy cups. An interesting fact is that 88% of Canadian Moms have used a sippy cup! I know it’s an essential part of our gear when we’re out and about.
We would like to thank Playtex for sending us some awsome sippy cups for Miss Button and Mr Bean to try out. We were not compensated for this review.
Master Lock {Review & Giveaway}
We were thrilled to review the Master Lock portable mini safe. This safe is small and light enough that it travels with you, yet has plenty of space for your cell, keys, cards and cash. A tough cable renders it pretty much impossible to steal if you secure it to an immovable object and a combination lock keeps your valuables safe and sound. It is incredibly easy to use, which is perfect for me! Hate reading instructions? Check out the website for instructional videos.
I really couldn’t recommend it highly enough for camping! Who feels like carting around their wallet, cash or credit cards when you’re supposed to be having fun in the great Canadian outdoors? Leave your most important, small items safely locked up in your … and go have fun. Discreet in white or gray, it won’t attract too much attention either. The mini safe is combination only, which makes perfect sense given that you’ll want to use it for keeping your keys safe when you’re out on the trail.
Mr Button especially loves the safe. It’s great on our little fishing boat; no chance of keys or cell phones slipping out your pocket into the lake. If you decide to port you can lock up, tether your safe to the boat and go on a hike without worrying. Water damage is no problem as the safe is water resistant. Mr Button, the gadget fanatic, also remarked on the high quality and solid construction of the safe! We use Master Lock on our sheds and are super happy with them.
We highly recommend this if you are in any way outdoors: hiking, camping, fishing. Available in gray or white, the for $24.99 now at Walmart and Zellers in Canada.

My Noisy Boys {review & giveaway}
My Noisy Boys is a fabulous Mom-owned Etsy business creating simply beautiful, all-natural hand printed wallflags, bags, custom gift bag sets and cards. My Noisy Boys designs are contemporary and original. I had never come across anything quite like these wallflags and I was super excited to try them out.
Miss Button and I think our Little Pink Birdie wallflag and matching bucket bag are fabulous. The printing is gorgeous and the materials and finishing is super high quality. While perfect for your little button the designs are sophisticated enough that you’ll want to keep them for yourself. Sadly Miss Button wouldn’t let me “borrow” her bag or wallflag so I may have to pop back over to Etsy for my own! I am loving the Sand Dollar, Rockets and Camper Van designs. Very cute and I could see these hanging in my covered deck all summer long.
Wallflags make awesome bedroom, playroom or playhouse decor. However, you can also use them as the perfectly unique party banner. Match the wallflag to a set of note cards and gift/goodie bags as part of an eco-responsible, modern party theme. My Noisy Boys loves to talk custom colours and designs too so if you have something in mind, let her know!
There are endless uses for the gorgeous bucket bag. Miss Button has had it packed with toys, her favourite clothes and even books and craft materials! I could also see it being a perfect storage bag for a new nursery along with a matching wallflag. Super sweet!
Each wallflag and bag is block printed using non-toxic ink and a hemp and organic cotton blended fabric. Adorable to look at and superb for our planet. We love this!
My Noisy Boys is a home grown Canadian business that ships worldwide, and Mom to two wonderful boys (as you can probably guess from the shop name). You may have visited them on Etsy, with oodles of 100% perfect feedback, under their old name “Wall Flags”.
