Kemby Sidekick {review}

Trying to find a carrier that works for babies and toddlers and allows you to carry all the gear you need together is not an easy product to find. Since mr. bean turned two, he does not want to go in his stroller any more, yet he needs breaks every once in awhile from walking. I must say I do miss a stroller’s capability for carrying all sorts of gear. Up until recently, I had to carry a diaper bag with all his snacks, diapers, sippy cups and such and then carry him for bits of time. Which is not easy.
I recently received a Kemby Sidekick bag/carrier to try out and I have never been so happy with a product! The bag is the perfect size for the stuff I have to carry around. But the best part is that when mr. bean gets tired from walking, the bag transforms into a carrier seat that I can then strap him into. For the carrier aspect, babies need to be able to have good head control to be able to use it.
I first tried it out at home and it did take me a couple of times before I got the hang of flipping the bag cover inside out and
attaching it to me and figuring out how to get him in. Once I got him in, it was perfect! I only wish I had this bag when mr. bean was much younger. He is at the upper end of the weight limit, but it was still very easy to use and my back did not get sore at all. Now we never leave the house without it.
Here are some of the great features this bag has:
- Versatile – wear over your shoulder, around your waist, or
- across your shoulder.
- Adjustable strap allows you to carry your baby on either hip
- Baby-friendly fabric easily wipes clean.
- Key clip, cell phone pocket, and many easily accessed pockets for essentials.
- Double side pockets for bottles or sippy cups.
- Removable insulated bottle/snack pouch and changing pad.
- Designed for use by babies with good head control, weighing up to 35 pounds
The only downside to this bag is the size. It can fit a fair bit, but if you are having to carry around a few bottles, change of clothes, cloth diapers and all the stuff an infant needs for an afternoon out, it may be a bit on the small side. But for us, it was the perfect size for a few small toys, a sippy cup, a diaper or two and snacks. I consider this a great transition bag between the huge diaper bag you might need in the beginning to when you can just throw a couple snacks in your purse.
The bags are available in a bunch of different colours and they are not bulky to carry. Even mr. beans dad can use it and not feel like he is carrying a traditional diaper bag.
Would I recommend this bag? Definitely. I have added this to my list of baby gear must-haves I always share with friends. The Kemby Sidekick is available at a number of retailers in Canada and the U.S. and directly from the Kemby website.

Little Tikes Discover Sounds Alarm Clock – Review
Miss Button and I were thrilled to try out the Little Tikes, Discover Sounds Alarm Clock from MGA Entertainment. I had recently started teaching Miss Button about telling the time on our wall clock and it was a little frustrating for both of us. I find that toddlers learn best with the hands-on approach. Miss Button really wanted to touch and move the clock hands, which doesn’t work so well with a regular wall clock I can assure you! We also found confusion fairly quickly with the two hands moving around on the clock.

These issues were immediately solved with the arrival of our Little Tikes Alarm Clock. As is typical of Little Tikes, the clock is exceptionally durable, nice and chunky and colourful for little hands, and very easy to use! It will definitely withstand a little rough play and is suitable for ages 12 months and up; so no little parts to worry about. The big hand stays on the 12, which Miss Button and I found so useful for starting our time-telling journey. Miss Button can handle it with ease and move the little hand by herself, which she loved! Not only that but the clock sounds out the numbers as you move the little hand. After hours of muddling around with the wall clock, Miss Button finally had a suitable tool in hand that she could understand. A huge bonus is that the clock operates in English, Spanish and French. I love this feature and I’ve reclaimed my ability to count to ten in Spanish, which I had forgotten over the years!
The clock also makes really cool alarm sounds and lights up when you push on the little bells at the top. I can definitely see this keeping the interest of even the littlest, little one and Miss Button, at 3 years old, was delighted. I actually wish we had this toy when she was little as I’m sure she would have loved it then too.
The Little Tikes Alarm Clock is available at Wal-Mart and Zellers across Canada. MGA Entertainment has a wide range of toys including Little Tikes, LalaLoopsy (have you seen these? Cute!), Bratz, Moxie, Rescue Pets, Nara, BFC Ink, My e-Pets 3D.

Little Jots {Review & Giveaway}
Miss Button and I were thrilled with our Little Jots. I first got to try them out when she was being babysat at Grandma’s house. I slipped a Little Jot with very simple “I ‘heart’ Miss Button” and a little doodle of us both holding hands. She loved it! As she gets older and has a better grasp of reading I can be more adventurous with the wording but it definitely is the thought that counts with these notes.
Little Jots were created by proud Mom, Maria as a way to connect and give positive feelings of love and connection.
What a fantastic idea! A way to let your own little button know that you’re thinking of them when you can’t be there to deliver that hug in person. Perfect for slipping into a book, backpack, lunchbox or even on the pillow (love this suggestion from Little Jots!). Who wouldn’t love a little surprise note of love or encouragement once in a while? These would make a great back to school gift or daycare tool. I confess I even left Mr Button a Little Jot on the dashboard of his car and I believe it brought a little smile to his face too.
Not a minute to spare in the morning? If you’re a busy parent you know how that feels. Luckily Little Jots come with beautiful pre-written notes as well as write your own notes. They fold easily and come with the cutest little ‘kiss’ and ‘smile’ stickers to seal the note closed. Your Little Jots come in a handy little hard binder that you can easily slip in your purse, diaper bag or glove box and refill packages are available for when you run out. No need to hunt for a pen as one is included. I love that they are so easy to use.
We all have those mornings now and again. Everyone is in a hurry and you sometimes you feel like you didn’t say a proper goodbye. Rest assured this will soon be forgotten when your little one discovers a message of love in a Little Jot!
Order Little Jots online or at the following retailers: Giving Gifts, Hager Books, Hip Baby, Jack & Lolas, Little Earth, Raspberry Kids, Sofiabella Tween Clothing Boutique, The Inno Shop. Little Jots are a Canadian company that support the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.

MTF Price Matters {review}
I am a deal shopper. As many of you already know, I love to hunt for the best deals when I’m shopping. Snagging a great product at a great price is what I live for. As much as I love shopping, with a toddler in tow, it’s not as easy to get out of the house and check out various deals. I find I spend quite a bit more time shopping online than I did before I had mr. bean. When I found out that MTF Price Matters has online shopping, I was very excited! As much as I love wandering the aisles at MTF, time was not always on my side and I was not stopping in as often. With online shopping, that has completely changed.
The MTF Price Matters website has all the great sections you are used to in store – electronics, toys, clothing, seasonal – the only difference is no food. You can read all the details, compare different products and find out about the warranty all in one place.
Since we were in the market for a new cordless phone and answering system, I decided to check the selection at MTF out online. There were dozens to pick from and it was easy to make a decision. Ordering online was relatively straight forward and then offer store pickup so you can save a few dollars on shipping or you they will ship free on all orders within Canada over $20. I selected store pickup as they are only 5 minutes away and a couple of days later I received a phone call that my order was ready to pick up.
Overall, I was quite happy with the MTF Price Matters online shopping experience and will definitely check them out next time I’m in the market for electronics or house ware items.
