My Noisy Boys {review & giveaway}

My Noise boysMy Noisy Boys is a fabulous Mom-owned Etsy business creating simply beautiful, all-natural hand printed wallflags, bags, custom gift bag sets and cards. My Noisy Boys designs are contemporary and original. I had never come across anything quite like these wallflags and I was super excited to try them out.

Miss Button and I think our Little Pink Birdie wallflag and matching bucket bag are fabulous. The printing is gorgeous and the materials and finishing is super high quality. While perfect for your little button the designs are sophisticated enough that you’ll want to keep them for yourself. Sadly Miss Button wouldn’t let me “borrow” her bag or wallflag so I may have to pop back over to Etsy for my own! I am loving the Sand Dollar, Rockets and Camper Van designs. Very cute and I could see these hanging in my covered deck all summer long.

Wallflags make awesome bedroom, playroom or playhouse decor. However, you can also use them as the perfectly unique party banner. Match the wallflag to a set of note cards and gift/goodie bags as part of an eco-responsible, modern party theme. My Noisy Boys loves to talk custom colours and designs too so if you have something in mind, let her know!

There are endless uses for the gorgeous bucket bag. Miss Button has had it packed with toys, her favourite clothes and even books and craft materials! I could also see it being a perfect storage bag for a new nursery along with a matching wallflag. Super sweet!

Each wallflag and bag is block printed using non-toxic ink and a hemp and organic cotton blended fabric. Adorable to look at and superb for our planet. We love this!

My Noisy Boys is a home grown Canadian business that ships worldwide, and Mom to two wonderful boys (as you can probably guess from the shop name). You may have visited them on Etsy, with oodles of 100% perfect feedback, under their old name “Wall Flags”.

Boske Kids {review & giveaway}

May 18, 2011 · Posted in Baby Clothing · 54 Comments

Boské Kids (pronounced bOskay), is a Canadian owned and operated company. We love the eco-friendly, responsible philosophy behind this gorgeous clothing. Boské Kids uses the finest natural fibers from Peru and practices fair trade with small family-owned suppliers. Double awesome!

Miss Button and I are loving our Boské Kids, Crochet Headband, Leg Warmers and super cute Spicy Baby Tee. The headband is super soft, Pima cotton with a detachable flower that doubles as a hair-clip on its own (fabulous idea). Oh my goodness, the leg warmers! They are made from Baby Alpaca fleece and are divine. Miss Button has pretty much refused to take them off; she loves anything that is soft and comfortable. It’s important to note that Baby Alpaca contains no lanolin so is fantastic for any little people who are allergic to the lanolin in wool. Also, it is actually stronger and more durable than sheep’s wool; who knew?

The “Spicy” baby tee is yummy fabulous. Made from organic Pima cotton and adorned with the cutest little hot pepper design (created using vegetable dye). We tried this on one of Miss Button’s little baby friends and it has an amazing fit. The cotton has had no contact with pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, chemical fertilizers or other non-organic agents. What could be better for your own little button?

Boské Kids has a gorgeous collection of clothing, accessories and toys, for babies and children up to 6. Shop online at Boske Kids or one of these great Canadian retailers: Lusso Baby, Saf & Benjamin Boutique, Peggy Sue’s Gifts Boutique (Gibsons), and Baby Cheeks.

Six Petals Designs {review & giveaway}

May 17, 2011 · Posted in Toys · 61 Comments

I love wooden toys. Wooden toys are great for kids of all ages, they allow them to use their imagination to incorporate them into play. Here at the mr. bean house, we avoid buying any toys that require batteries. Not only does the noise irritate me, but they are not played with very long and they quickly work their way down to the bottom of the toy box. However, I do love all things Mac, so it’s natural that mr. bean wants his very own iPhone. Don’t worry, I’m not getting a two year old a real one.

While perusing various websites, I came across Six Petals Designs, a local West Vancouver online store that designs, manufactures and sells a variety of wooden toys. They are all made from locally sourced wood and are some of the most creative designs I have ever come across. Then, when I saw their “iPhone”, I knew I had hit the jackpot.

When we received the PDA, mr. bean was super excited! Of course, the first thing he tried to do was slide the screen – he taught me how to do that when I was showing him pictures one day – all at the ripe old age of 17 months. He was confused at first, but now he loves to have little conversations with Grandpa and Grandma on his “iPhone”. And, he always knows where it is. Wish I could say that about my own phone! I even caught him “checking my email” one morning. It was very cute. It also made me realize, that I need to put mine down a bit more often than I do.

Wooden iPhone Toy

The phone is very well made, super light, and I love the painted app squares on it. When you flip it over, instead of the Mac apple, it’s a banana! Very creative.

CONTEST CLOSED.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides {giveaway}

May 15, 2011 · Posted in Movies · 60 Comments

POC

Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Rob Marshall, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” captures the fun, adventure and humour that ignited the hit franchise—this time in Disney Digital 3D™. Johnny Depp returns to his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow in an action-packed adventure. Crossing paths with the enigmatic Angelica (Penélope Cruz), he’s not sure if it’s love—or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the “Queen Anne’s Revenge,” the ship of the legendary pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know whom to fear more: Blackbeard or Angelica, with whom he shares a mysterious past. The international cast includes franchise vets Geoffrey Rush as the vengeful Captain Hector Barbossa and Kevin R. McNally as Captain Jack’s longtime comrade Joshamee Gibbs, plus Sam Claflin as a stalwart missionary and Astrid Bergès-Frisbey as a mysterious mermaid.
