Hairykids {review & giveaway}
Looking for all natural bath products for kids of all ages AND that’s made in BC? Check out Hairykids. Hairykids was created when two sisters on Salt Spring Island wanted their kids to have their very own safe line of salon quality hair products that are 100% effective. The ingredients they choose are safe because they’re made from all natural products and are:

- dye free
- fragrance free
- paraben free
- gmo free
- sodium lauryl sulfate free too!
We had the opportunity to try out all the shampoos, conditioners, and body wash in all four great scents: lemonade (oily to normal), seaside (normal to dry), tropical (all hair types), and unscented (all hair types and safe for children over one).
For mr. bean we chose the unscented shampoo, conditioner and body wash to try. The unscented had an earthy all natural smell to it. Just what you would expect natural,
organic shampoo to smell like. A fresh from the garden earthy smell. The shampoo worked well, as did the conditioner when I could wrangle mr. bean into using conditioner. Which leads to my only complaint.
At 16 months, he just does not have the patience (or desire) to have two different products put in his hair. Wetting his hair and rinsing it once is a challenge, let alone trying to do it twice. The shampoo on it’s own did not leave his hair as silky soft as it did when I had a chance to use the conditioner as well. An all-in-one option would be so handy for little ones.
On the other hand, West Coast Dad didn’t mind using both shampoo and conditioner. He tried out the lemonade line. His thoughts? Scent-wise not too strong, and the shampoo was perfect for his fine but oily by mid-morning hair. He did have to use conditioner as he found that the shampoo on it’s own was too drying. However, the conditioner did not weigh down his hair. Another plus for Hairykids.
Interested in buying Hairykids? Their entire product line is available for purchase on their website as well as at a number of Canadian retailers.

The Last Room in the House
This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Glidden. All opinions are 100% mine.
You know that room. The room that has been left exactly the way it looked when you moved into your house. You’ve redecorated every other room in your house. By the time you get to it, you’re tired. You tell yourself that next summer you’ll do it. Three years later and it’s still not done.
Where to start? I was at Home Depot the other day and I was checking out the Glidden paint products to get some inspiration. I came across the Glidden Top 10 Colour Palettes and I got some great ideas! These Colour Palettes are put together by the Glidden colour experts, which is perfect for someone like me who has no idea how to match up colours and accessories.
For those of you who frequently suffer buyers remorse, there is no need to worry about that with Glidden paints! You can buy paint testers in any colour and they have a brush built right into the lid. It does not get any
easier than that. Plus, when it comes to touch-ups, you have a perfect size container of paint. Black marker on the wall? No problem. Pull out your paint tester and cover it up. Easier than scrubbing.
Paint testers not your thing? Check out the Glidden XL Paint Chips. You can move the chip around your room to get an idea of the colour in different lighting situations. Plus, each one has two coordinating colours on the back to help you even more.
If you need a bit more guidance, check out the Glidden Room Painter. This will help you find exactly what you’re looking for.

Sand Gone {review & giveaway}
Over here on the west coast we go to the beach a lot. So much so that if I were to collect all the sand in the car over the summer, we could probably fill a sandbox in our back yard at the end of summer every year.
Whether you spend your days on the beach, at the lake or in the sandbox, sand gets everywhere and sticks to everything! We had the opportunity to try out Sand Gone, a dry body powder that removes the sand when applied to your body. I’ll be honest here, I was very skeptical. Short of pouring a ton of water over my feet and lower legs when I’m about to get in the car to go home, I have not found anything that works. But Sand Gone works. I was amazed at how well it worked.
Sand Gone is non-talc and non-toxic, and has a nice coconut scent to it. It comes in an
8 oz container with a microfiber applicator. You use the applicator to apply the Sand Gone to your skin and voila, the sand is gone! The applicator can be washed in the washer or by hand if you need to.
Initially I thought the applicator was a bit awkward and thought perhaps a shaker of some type would work better. But once I used it for about 30 seconds, the applicator is perfect. With a shaker, you would waste so much. With the microfiber applicator that is just not an issue.
My only wish is that I had found this great product earlier in the summer!
Sand Gone is available for purchase on their website.

Mama Zone: Disposable Eco-Diapers
Compostable, hypoallergenic, and eco-friendly disposable diapers? Does such a thing actually exists? I was surprised to find out they actually do. Here over at West Coast Mama we are a cloth diaper using family. We love our cloth diapers. But there are times that we need to use disposables. When we came across Mama Zone eco-friendly disposable diapers we were happy!
Mama Zone is a Canadian company that has launched their own line of eco-responsible diapers manufactured by Moltex in Germany. In addition to being eco-friendly, they’re diapers are also chlorine, natural latex, fragrance, dye, TBT & PVC FREE. So for those of you with extremely sensitive little bottoms, these are a great option to try.
What makes these diapers so environmentally friendly? The backsheet is completely biodegradable (can’t say that about “mainstream” disposable diapers), the packaging is compostable and the fluff on the inside is from 100% sustainable resources.
We had an opportunity to try out a package of these diapers courtesy of Mama Zone. For daytime use they worked perfect. No rashes or redness which we normally would get from a disposable diaper. That made me (and mr. bean) very happy. For night time though, they didn’t quite last the night. Mr. bean woke up with a diaper leak. However, I must mention that he is an extremely heavy wetter and even when we have had to use a disposable at night we normally put his Sloomb Wool Cover over top. Yup, he is a very heavy wetter. To test for overnight I chose not to put a wool cover over top and he leaked. Surprisingly not as big of a leak as he would have had with a traditional disposable diaper.
Overall we are very happy with our Mama Zone disposable diapers and the price is in line with other more environmentally friendly disposable diaper options available. We will definitely order them when we need more.
For those of you wanting to try out Mama Zone disposable diapers, they are holding a giveaway to win 3 months worth of diapers! You can enter the giveaway here.
We would like to thank Mama Zone for sending us a package of their eco-friendly disposable diapers to try out. Thanks!
Nacho Mama Tees
Looking for some vintage or funny t-shirts and don’t want the same shirt everyone else has? Check out Nacho Mama Tees. They love creating cool t-shirt designs and they are the funny t-shirt experts. We (as in mr. west coast dad) had a chance recently to check out the Nacho Mama Tee collection.
It was hard trying to pick one t-shirt. There were the vintage t-shirt designs my husband wanted and the ones I did not want him to get. Between the movie t-shirts, the cool t-shirts, and the 80s t-shirts mr. west coast dad picked the Mr Rogers “Be My Neighbor” shirt. Yup, my husband still likes Mr. Rogers. Considering he originally wanted a Chuck Norris tee, I consider myself lucky.
Nacho Mama Tees are all made from 100% cotton. When asked what he liked about his t-shirt, mr. west coast dad liked the 3/4 length bicep sleeves (I think he made up that term, but he liked that the sleeves were 3/4 length down his biceps) and that the neck was nice, not too high or too low and that it was not too tight nor too loose.
He felt like he was ready to walk the catwalk (his words) and did strut his stuff around the house. I do have pictures, but between taking them and writing this post they have disappeared. The strutting his stuff pictures that is. His defense is that New York is not ready for love handles and a belly, neatly held behind a 100% cotton t-shirt from Nacho Mama Tees. Uh ya, this is my life.
Oh and if none of their hundreds of designs don’t catch your eye, Nacho Mama Tees also offer custom t-shirts too.
